Erin Wade, co-founder and former CEO of Homeroom, is a successful entrepreneur and the author of The Mac & Cheese Millionaire: Building a Better Business by Thinking Outside the Box. After leaving corporate law to start a mac-and-cheese restaurant, Wade's journey has inspired others to rethink how businesses can operate. Her book and a Washington Post op-ed, highlight how she revolutionized workplace culture, especially by tackling sexual harassment in the restaurant industry.

In her op-ed, Wade shared how Homeroom created a safe reporting system for harassment, empowering employees to speak up without fear of retaliation. Key to this approach was building trust, providing mandatory harassment training, and enforcing a zero-tolerance policy.

The Mac & Cheese Millionaire delves into Wade’s unconventional leadership style, which prioritizes people and purpose alongside profit. By fostering employee well-being and collaboration, Wade turned Homeroom into a multi-million-dollar business known for both its food and its innovative workplace culture.

In this Masterclass, Wade will share lessons from her book and op-ed, covering:

  • Thinking Differently in Business: Insights on how eliminating tipping and empowering employees transformed Homeroom’s operations and profitability.
  • Addressing Harassment: How transparency, training, and accountability created a safer, more inclusive workplace.
  • Building Trust and Safety: The role of transparency and empowerment in creating a supportive work environment.
  • Pillars of Workplace Culture: How inclusivity and collaboration enhance employee engagement and business performance.

Wade’s leadership model demonstrates that thinking outside the box can create workplaces where employees feel respected and empowered, leading to both personal and organizational success.
